Program Overviews

Having a choice between the two easy to follow programs below give our RNFA students (many who are going back to school after years) - reason to smile.

1. Online Studies

If you enroll in RNFA Program I:
Includes 328 hours of home studies (not including SutureStar Workshop or clinical internship hours) with college credits recognized by U.S.D.O.E. 12 volumes of home studies along with five custom surgical workbooks and our exclusive Suture & Tying Practice Lab and DVD presentation that covers over 23 wound closure techniques (to sample the quality of the home study DVD presentation visit our FREE RNFA Lesson on this site). Program completion awards 9 College Credits and 397 CEs. Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing. Provider Number CEP11471.

If you enroll in RNFA Program II:
Designed especially for *nurse practitioners and perioperative nurses who are surgeon or group employed. Includes 98 hours of home studies (not including SutureStar™ Workshop or clinical internship hours) with college credits recognized by U.S.D.O.E. Home studies that include five custom surgical workbooks, 8 independent surgical study assignments and our exclusive Suture & Tying Practice Lab and DVD presentation that covers over 23 wound closure techniques (to sample the quality of the home study DVD presentation visit our FREE RNFA Lesson on this site). All Nurse Practitioners with limited OR experience will receive a 12 month subscription to the AORN Video Library series ($7,800 value if all purchased individually from Cine-med) free. Program completion awards 3 College Credits and 158 CEs. Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing. Provider Number CEP11471.

(Note: With Program II, you can now customize it to fit your practice setting. Upon graduation, you could receive a certificate documenting either training in multi-specialty or multi-specialty with an emphasis in your particular specialty. Students who enroll in the RNFA Program II specialty programs must, among other requirements, log 150 hours on their case log instead of the normal 120 hours for Program II, along with a Final Exam in that chosen specialty. Call for new information.)

* Nurse practitioners without OR experience who are not sure if they need a full RNFA program, should register for our SURGICAL CRASH COURSE. And, half of your tuition will apply for our formal RNFA program at a later date. Call for the details.

2. SutureStar Workshop

Students from RNFA Programs I and II, get ready to roll up your sleeves and learn the techniques used by the nation's top RNFAs through in our 6 day, dynamic, hands-on training workshop! You will receive over 54 hours of simulated surgical skills training before entering your clinical preceptorship.

3. Clinical RNFA Internship

RNFA Program I:
135 hour clinical preceptorship (multi-specialty preferred, but not required)

RNFA Program II:
120 hour clinical preceptorship (multi-specialty not required, but preferred)

NIFA® students enter the clinical preceptorship phase of their program totally and properly prepared. They have practiced their advanced, multi-specialty techniques and cross-over skills so many times on NIFA labs that they master and own them.
