Our SutureStar™ Workshop -
Your Pathway For Expertise In RNFA Practice

The intraoperative role of RNFA demands a tremendous amount of acquired psychomotor skills. How much practice time in acquiring these skills should an RNFA program provide before an RNFA student enters the clinical preceptorship portion of her/his program?

NIFA students receive more than 54 hours of simulated training before entering their clinical preceptorship.

Besides our comprehensive home studies, all NIFA students receive:

14 hours of Wound Closure DVD Presentation with Practice Lab for home study: You can master the basic to advanced techniques of the nation's top RNFAs through repetitive practice in the privacy of your own home. By using this amazing instructional tool, many NIFA students have already reached expert levels in many techniques even before they arrive at our popular SutureStar™ Workshop.

40 hours of simulated surgery during the SutureStar™ Workshop: For six days you will perform surgeries from 'cut to close'. Instructor feedback and evaluation will help you reach expert levels. Through this intense week, NIFA graduates gain the confidence they need to competently perform in the expanded role of RNFA.

Plus, NIFA® Las Vegas classes include a simulated, introductory Endoscopic Vessel Harvesting classes utilizing the new Boston Scientific and Guidant VesselView 6 & 7.

During our 6 day SutureStarTM Workshop, you will be performing actual surgical procedures on realistic simulated human patients. Animal labs can't come close to these life-like models in facilitating the skills learning process. We have re-created the human anatomy with the meticulous detail required to perform a surgical procedure step-by-step.

This is where you achieve expert levels! You can take your time and master your new skills in a pressure-free, risk-free learning environment. You will perform three real surgical procedures each day, one as the RNFA, one as the scrub and a third as the surgeon. Role-playing as the surgeon gives you the surgeon's unique perspective and increases your anticipatory skills dramatically. You get to know what a surgeon needs and expects from a well-trained and skilled RNFA.

In recognition: Since 1998, our Suture & Tying DVD and Practice Lab have been utilizing Syneture™ Suture generously provided by US Surgical!

How much suture does the SutureStarWorkshop need? NIFA SutureStarTM Workshops and home study Practice Labs use so much sutures that to accent our USSC/DG sutures, we have purchased our own suture machines and now provide overflow suture for NIFA RNFA students.
